Complete Sport Science approach
Fitness Clinic Athletic Development staff integrates latest sport science methods to evaluate, train and monitor all the components of athleticism to the degree required by the sport that the athlete participates in. The focus principle is based on holistic approach with aim to develop complete athletes. The Fitness Clinic Athletic Development recognises the complete needs of todayâ€™s athletes and therefore provides services in sports science, psychology and biomechanics.
Each athlete’s program is individually tailored to meet their specific needs. Programs are designed to stress athleteâ€™s needs in strength, speed, endurance, power, agility, flexibility, body composition, nutrition and sport specific conditioning. In addition to the physical training aspect of the program, each athlete has the unique opportunity to work with a sport psychologist and nutrition coach to ensure he or she is fully prepared for specific sport training and competition.
Our Athletic Development staff delivering the strength and conditioning programs have full membership and hold applicable accreditation with the Australian Association for Exercise and Sport Science (AAESS) and Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).
Our Athletic Development services offered are mainly carried out in our Head Centre but are also offered in sport clubs and university fitness centers.

Our aim is to help the athletes maximize their athletic potential while incorporating latest scientific principles and practices of sports conditioning training. Sports specific conditioning is regarded as one of the most important ingredients of any successful sports program.
We work with athletes on every aspect of their training to ensure they develop the physical, mental and nutritional foundation of performance factors required for better performance in their sport. This is accomplished through coaching and training in advanced strength and conditioning techniques, uniquely integrated with mental and injury prevention principles. All programs are precisely periodized to meet athleteâ€™s peak performance for the particular time of the competitive season.
The conditioning program is based on the initial interview and inclusive testing session. Consequently, athletes are supplied with individual tailored training exercises and drills for the development and improvement of their sport-specific speed, agility, muscular power and endurance.
Strength training emphasizes multi-joint, multi-plane movements such as power cleans, squats and upper-body presses. Rotational movements balance and stability, unilateral exercises, and core training are also priorities.

What is Biomechanical Analysis
Biomechanics Analysis primarily focuses on the use of kinetic and kinematic tools to maximise technique and sports performance. Biomechanic analysis is performed within the sports environment and involves the study of forces and the effects of those forces on and within the human body. Our Biomechanists use their expertise in the observation, measurement and analysis of data obtained from training and competition performances to support athlete development.
What Sport Skills are suitable?
Any skill and particularly those which are highly technical in their performance are suitable for biomechanical analysis. These skills can be analysed from various stands: video analysis or 3D motion analysis, ground reaction forces (GRF) and muscleâ€™s myoelectrical signals (EMG). Use of video analysis provides user friendly visual feedback and greatly enhances understanding of movement; while GRF and EMG are more complex in their interpretation they offer most valuable information.
What are the benefits
The Biomechanical Analysis can help the athlete and coach to identify mechanical weaknesses or opportunities to improve, as well as reducing injury risks. Early detection of any musculo-skeletal problems or faulty movement patterns can prevent potential injuries as well as give direct feedback to the athlete. A more conscious effort can therefore be made to improve training exercises efficiency in movements such as running, jumping, or even basic weight training movements.
The consultation and analysis is conducted by our Sports Biomechanics expert. An interview is conducted first to assess the key movement are for analysis, evaluate goals of the session and a basic movement analysis is performed in the first instance. Further steps and more detailed movement analysis are subsequently performed.
