Exercise for Seniors

At the Fitness Clinic we understand the importance of exercise in older adults. More than 1/3rd of Australians over the age of 65 will have a fall each year resulting in physical or psychological injury. This can lead to a loss of confidence and fear of a recurrent fall resulting in inactivity which further increases the risk of falling.

Key Risk Factors For Falls

  1. Muscle weakness and reduced lower limb strength
  2. Reduced reaction time
  3. Impaired balance and gait
  4. Visual impairment
  5. Chronic condition influence e.g. uncontrolled diabetes can increase vision impairment and reduce sensation in feet

Fitness Clinic Falls Prevention Program

We have designed a falls prevention program specifically tailored around these risk factors to assist in the prevention of falls in older adults. The program involves 2 group exercise physiology sessions per week as well as a home program to be conducted daily.
